Firstly I looked into the history and usage of the font; Futura which helped me in my decisions to make my designs modern (based on looking at the Bauhaus school.) My research included usage of the font and also what others in my class thought of Futura to which they wrote singular words for inspiration. As shown on my previous post I created my research into an A3 design sheet to help with presenting my ideas for critique.
From looking at the initial definitions of the word Occupation I found that only a few of the definitions worked when looking at type and connotations of type. These included definitions linked to the army and also those linked to shape and space.
From
my initial ideas I have looked at (The act or process of holding or possessing a place, the state of being
held or possessed, invasion, conquest, and control of a nation or territory by
foreign armed forces, the military government exercising control over an
occupied nation or territory) mainly military forms of occupation. Pictured above is a map of country invasion, which includes grid lines, and geometric
shapes which would be introduced into a typeface. I have also looked at the
camouflage as a form on symbolism, which could be put into a typeface to
represent occupation through the army, pictured last is of barbed wire of a
concentration camp portraying oppression and controlling of people/ a country.
