Craig Ward

This typographic piece created by Graphic Designer, Craig Ward; he states "bad typography is everywhere" and "good typography is invisible". This work was created as part of the "words are pictures" studio. A large majority of his work is concept based and I appreciate and enjoy the thought provoking imagery he produces with type. This piece in particular holds a bold statement about design and is distinctively portrayed with a bright red tone for the statement and the statement underneath about good typography being invisible is cleverly portrayed in the same tones as the backgrounds, therefore the typography holds this concept.
Francesca Woodman

Francesca Woodman created a wide range of artwork before her death in 1981 at age 22. Her work in the photographic/artistic community is incredibly shocking due to her suicide and depression themed images. Her images are incredibly powerful and all contain elements of her sadness and the idea that she is fading. She states: "Am I in the picture? Am I getting in or our of it? I could be a ghost, an animal or a dead body, not just this girl standing in the corner" which proves that her work is conceptual and contains ideologies about depression and mental illness. For example this picture in particular shoes Francesca fading into the wall of the house which contains distressed wallpapers and a shattered mirror which portrays her broken and fragmented view of herself. She uses a long exposure to create ghost-like images and create a mystery and phantom illusion.
