OUGD401- Context Of Practice TASK 1

Noma Bar
100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design
Steven Heller & Véronique Vienne

Noma Bar's illustrations are thought provoking and contain conceptual theories behind them. This piece for example (Gun Crime 2010) represents the toll of deaths due to gun crime in the UK, the trigger in the illustration serves as both a mechanism of attack and also the outcome of gun attacks. This find this particular piece powerful due to the minimalistic design and lack of text, it allows the audience to view the image and create their own realisation of the artists message.

Saatchi & Saatchi Simko (agency in Geneva)
Give A Hand To Wildlife 2008

100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design
Steven Heller & Véronique Vienne

This piece of design was created by the agency Saatchi & Saatchi Simko and contains hand painted by body painter Guido Daniele and shows the concept of helping endangered wildlife. The hands form shapes which represent the animals created and therefore merge the idea of humanity and wildlife together. I particularly appreciate this piece of advertising because of its concept and the simplicity of the idea; the advertising is clear and creative.
