OUGD501: What is research (lecture) Part 1 & 2

Research isn't just finding out facts and then putting them together it is an ongoing process of learning which is incredibly important and will be a large part of COP3.

This animation was incredibly interesting to watch because in a simple way it talks about ideas and getting things wrong. It also talks about the idea of trying lots of different tactics until you get things correct as you can't just simply wait for inspiration you have to search this for yourself.

Types of research:

These approaches all simply come down to a few different methods which can include collection information about a particular subject from a variety of different sources (books, journals, internet sites ect). But research can also be done by carrying out experiments, talking to people about ideas and concepts and analysing your results from a survey for example. All these research options are valid but it entirely depends on your research topic as to whether these are worth your time.

Research can be split up into different areas too:

Thinking about these research methods will be incredibly important in terms of my COP3 module especially as it is such a large module which could have so many outcomes but needs to be carefully selected and thoroughly researched.
