Problems Encountered Living In Leeds

Smaller group's personal list

Collection of lists from the class

Final ten issues

The photographs above demonstrate how as a class we created vast amounts of lists of problems students encountered when moving away from home and becoming a student at Leeds College Of Art. These lists were then refined and transformed into a question, which required a solution. The third photograph contains the final ten, which were considered the most relevant to students. These were in need of a solution to be created and therefore formed a design question (brief). The final ten problems include; struggling to find employment, trying to stay fit and healthy with a limited budget, anxiety about standards of own work, failure in time management which affects social and university life, having trouble maintaining a positive and creative attitude, working with new people and networking, finding your way around a new city, trouble budgeting for all costs, taking care of valuables including work and finally having trouble networking with the graphic design community.
